#11: Seekers + Healers: Power of Story And Meditation To Guide Your Journey Home With Nat Ma

On this episode I sat down with @natma, digital creator, transformational life coach, healer & founder of @seekersandhealers, a platform that’s inspiring conscious living by sharing stories & healing modalities around the world.

If you feel on the brink of a transformation, and aren’t sure where to start, this episode is for you. I know this was me a year ago. I was interested in yoga and meditation and new ways to level up my lifestyle but was just plain overwhelmed with all the directions I could go.

I’m excited about what Nat's doing, cause he actually experienced the same thing which is the whole reason he built a go-to platform that would make it easier to get started on the journey to wellness. A few years back he was living the so called good life in New York City, working as head of digital marketing at Burberry, but after multiple panic attacks and a decline in his health, Nat new the environment wasn’t right for him. So he quit his job, sold everything and set out on a journey to 50+ countries around the world.

He wanted to explore different ways of living and growing across the globe. So on his travels he spoke with thousands of people who were going through their own life shifts, learned from various spiritual masters, and tried out dozens of healing modalities to figure out which ways were best for him. This took him years to explore and experience, and now he’s in full on creator mode sharing the stories of people he’s met and breaking down all the tools that are out there to guide all the people like us back home to a place of clarity, high energy, and deep purpose.

The links to Seekers and Healers are below, as well as links to Nat's videos and programs around Kriya meditation and energy healing in case you want to dive deeper and start the work. On this episode, we also talk about mastering your energy, making time and space for yourself especially in big city life, we break down the practice of Kriya yoga, go over personal work, what it means and why we’ve got to do it before anything else, and talk about what it means to come home to yourself.

It was an absolute blast chatting with Nat, and despite how deep we got know there are so many more paths we could have gone down, so maybe this will inspire you to go check out some of these incredible stories and videos on your own!

Show Notes:

  • Nat fell in love with Chiang Mai the first time he went, it has a very warm and welcoming energy, you can make anything happen there

  • Nat likes Chiang Mai because it has a great wellness community, and is great for being a digital nomad as well – Nat likes to straddle the two worlds

  • Nat started his own agency at 21 years old, then sold it at 26 to start working at one of the largest ad agencies in the world. When he turned 30 he moved to New York and became head of Digital Marketing for Burberry

  • He seemed successful on the outside, but was suffering on the inside, having panic attacks. He was in the wrong environment for who he was

  • Nat spent 12 years working on himself, and after trying many healing modalities to heal himself he started to try meditation, which made him feel at ‘home’

  • Finally he realized there was more out there, so he quit his job, sold everything and went on a journey around the world

  • Nat traveled to over 40-50 countries

  • He sees his journey in 3 phases: the seeker, the experiencer, the creator

  • Seeking involved a lot of looking outside of himself for help from guides and teachers, he dedicated himself 100% to working on himself

  • He then started to just experience things and go with the flow, then he realized his purpose in life – to heal the world through transforming people

  • During the third stage, he realized he wanted to build a platform to share people’s stories of healing and transformation

  • Some of the healing modalities Nat worked through over the years include trauma release, breath practices, kinesiology, ayahuasca, Bufo Alvarius, yoga, meditation, journaling

  • What’s the balance though? Is it more important to work on ourselves or bettering the world? Nat says it’s key to start getting to a point where you can see yourself and your potential more clearly

  • In all his conversations and interviews, Nat’s discovered a pattern in people’s journey’s – much like Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey

  • Nat’s mission through Seekers and Healers is to guide people ‘home’ through storytelling and meditation practices

  • At the end of the day, we’re really just trying to figure out who we are and what we’re here to do, and how do we actually go about doing it. I believe that’s our mission in life. And if we can figure that out, everything is going to be amazing and beautiful.

  • Nat considers Seekers and Healers the Chef’s Table for healing

  • At the end of the day it doesn’t matter where you are we’re all connected through the heart, the soul.

  • Kriya yoga is a methodology to peel back all the layers and connect with the seat of the soul

  • Kriya means ‘actions to purify the soul’ - it’s a shortcut to clear the energy channels and get to a place of deep connection with the universe

  • The process for Kriya meditation: starts with asana movements to connect with the body and bring the energy inwards, then moves into pranayama breath work, then the kriya practice - which can use breath, visualization, mantras and other tools - then sitting and doing nothing

  • Kriya yoga is relatable for the modern urban person who is ‘time poor’, it’s also good because there are so many different types which is beneficial for different types of people

  • If you learn to master your energy, you learn to master the energy of life

  • When you’re living in flow state, more opportunities come your way, but there will be both positive and negative opportunities

  • How to live in a big city like New York and stay sane? Meditate, and most importantly create space for yourself to consistently do things to keep charged and refreshed, this can be walking in the park, doing yoga, going for a run or to the gym.

  • In guiding people home, Nat wants to peel back all the layers that society has thrown over our eyes and return people back to their child like, pure consciousness self
